What is a social card (SSN, social number)?

In the Russian Federation - TIN and SNILS. In Armenia - social card (social number, SSN). This is a plastic or paper document with a 10-digit individual code. A social card on paper is almost never required. It is enough to know the number or have a scan or photo of the certificate in your phone.

Why do you need a social card?

Social card needed:
  • for payment by individuals taxes;
  • to pay individual entrepreneurs for services of an individual and taxes;
  • to accept an individual for work;
  • for getting driving license;
  • for the adoption of a child in the state kindergarten and school;
  • to open accounts in banks.
No social card needed

What documents are needed to receive?

You can get a social card using a Russian internal or foreign passport.
A package of documents for an internal passport:
  • original passport;
  • copy of pages with photo and registration;
  • notarized translation of the passport into Armenian;
  • a copy of a notarized translation.
A package of documents for a foreign passport:
  • original passport;
  • notarized translation of the passport into Armenian;
  • a copy of the spread with a photograph;
  • a copy of the page with a stamp on entry into Armenia;
  • a copy of a notarized translation.
note

Some branches of the passport office require a real estate lease agreement.
You can apply for a passport in 1-2 days, because it contains a stamp on entry into Armenia. It will take 3-5 days to issue a social card using an internal passport.
Nuance

Ethnic Armenians may be denied a social card, because there is an opportunity to immediately obtain citizenship.
To receive a social card, ethnic Armenians born after 1981 must bring copies of their birth certificate, marriage certificate (if available), copies of their parents' passports. Their presence in the database of citizens will be checked. This takes 3-4 business days.
If you made a social card according to your passport, and then received another reason for staying (a residence permit, a workpermit card, etc.), then you need to change the reason for receiving a social card in the passport office in order to generate a new document with a previously received social number. In this case, you will need a residence permit in the RA.

What is the procedure for obtaining a social card?

  1. Make a notarized translation of the passport for which you will apply, and copies of the pages.
  2. Come with a package of documents from the previous paragraph to any branch of the passport office (OVIR).
  3. Stand in line for tickets. It may take all day.
  4. Ask the employee of the branch to fill out the form for receiving in Armenian. In the column "Address" indicate any, the one where you currently live. It could also be a hotel.
  5. Pick up the social card in 2-5 working days in the same branch. In some passport offices, a social card is given on the spot if there is an entry stamp.
  6. Put the stamp of the head of the OVIR in the same department in a separate window.
Faster option – filling out an application or making an appointment through the website of the migration service migration.e-gov.am/, which is available in Armenian, English and Russian. To get a number you need:
  1. On the main page, select the "Help" section;
  2. Item "Certificate on the allocation of a number of public services";
  3. Further on the choice: making an appointment for a physical appointment at the passport office or applying online.

Estimated time to complete and submit the application is 10-15 minutes. Employees of the passport office usually inform about readiness, but it is better to check it yourself. Based on personal experience: certificates are prepared within 3-5 working days.

The child does not have an internal or foreign passport. What to complete?

If you crossed the border on the basis of an internal passport, certify the translation of your passport and child's birth certificate. If, on the basis of a foreign passport - your passport and a birth certificate of a child.
