The Armenian bureaucracy is quite friendly and benevolent. The process of obtaining a residence permit has been perfected on tens of thousands of relocators. Most of the passport office staff speak Russian.

Therefore, it is not difficult to obtain a residence permit, but it is difficult not to obtain it.

• Temporary residence card up to 1 year. The state duty is 105,000 AMD. Reasons for getting:
  - studies;
  – work permit;
  – the presence in Armenia of a spouse or close relative (parent, child, brother, sister, grandmother, grandfather, grandson) of an RA citizen;
  – the presence of a spouse or close relative of a foreign citizen who has a permanent or special residence status;
  - entrepreneurial activity;
  - Armenian / Armenian by nationality;
• permanent residence card - 5 years. The state duty is 140,000 AMD. Reasons for getting:
  – the presence in Armenia of a spouse or close relatives of citizens of the Republic of Armenia or foreigners who have the status of special residence. The applicant for a residence permit must be provided with housing and livelihood and have lived in the RA for at least three years;
  - entrepreneurial activity;
  - Armenian / Armenian by nationality;
• special passport for 10 years. The state duty is 150,000 AMD. Issued to foreigners conducting economic or cultural activities in the RA.

Cards can be renewed for the same period.

Obtaining a residence permit consists of 4 stages:

1. Collection of necessary documents.
2. Submission of an application to the Passport and Visa Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Armenia.
3. Passing an inspection by the National Security Service (National Security Service, analogue of the FSB).
4. Issuance of a document confirming the status of residence in the RA.

To obtain a residence permit for a year or five years, you will need the following documents:

• 3 color photographs 3x4;
• international passport and its copy, notarized translation OR Russian passport and ticket - depending on what they crossed the border with;
• medical certificate;
• a document confirming the grounds for obtaining the residence status;
• application form;
• receipt of payment of state duty;
• we also recommend that you social card.

Additional documents are required to obtain a special passport. The list is given on police website.

Passport of the Russian Federation and its copy

The passport of the Russian Federation must be translated into Armenian and notarized. The price is 2000-8000 AMD plus 500 AMD state duty. Completion time is within a day.
Medical certificate

It can be obtained at any medical facility in Armenia. It is also done during the day. We recommend that you take a notarized translation of your passport ready for examination.
The inspection includes:

• neuropathologist;
• therapist;
• blood tests;
• fluorography.

You can get a residence permit on one of the following grounds:

• Armenian / Armenian by nationality or Armenian parents;
• the presence of close relatives-Armenians (parent, child, brother, sister, grandmother, grandfather, grandson) legally residing in Armenia (residence permit, citizenship);
• getting an education in Armenia;
• work in Armenia under an employment contract;
• the presence of a registered marriage with a citizen of Armenia;
• doing business in the RA;
• a family member has a residence permit.

1. In the search, write կացության կարգավիճակ. Choose a residence permit or work permit.

2. We chose the first option. Click on the record button.

3. Confirm your identity in the National ID. When registering via mail, you will need to enter your first name, last name, passport number and email address, which will receive a number to confirm registration.

After you have collected all the documents, you need to go to the Central OVIR (Davtashen district, Tigran Petrosyan St., 31/2).

The residence permit application is written in Armenian, so you will need someone you trust and who knows Armenian well.
The application must indicate:

• FULL NAME;
• citizenship;
• date of birth;
• nationality, according to your documents;
• reason for coming to Armenia;
• Family status;
• information about children under 16 years of age (name, date of birth, citizenship);
• address of residence in Armenia and in the Russian Federation;
• number and series of the Russian passport;
• notification of a change in permanent residence.

Within 5 days you will receive a notification of approval or rejection of the granting of residence permit status.

If approved, you must come to the Passport and Visa Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Armenia with your Russian passport and receive a document confirming the status of residence in the Republic of Armenia.

• Provide false information about yourself;
• submit an application later than 30 days before the expiration of the current residence permit;
• submit an application later than 30 days before the expiration of the period of continuous stay in the territory.
