Which containers are suitable for sorting
green container
All household waste goes into the green bin. They are outside the waste sorting system.
yellow container
The yellow container is for paper and cardboard. Do not throw checks, napkins, paper cups into it. They are not recycled. Checks - because of the toxic compound in the composition - bisphenol-A. Napkins - for hygienic and sanitary reasons. Cups - because of the polypropylene film on the inside.
blue container
The blue container is for plastic and plastic bags. Do not throw household waste, car windows, TV and monitor screens into the blue container.
black container
The black container is for glass bottles. Do not throw away the front and rear windows of cars, TV screens and monitors into it.
If there is no black container near you, the glass can be placed in a blue container in a separate bag.
red container
Today, the red container is for aluminum cans. In the future - for metal waste. Red containers will appear in Yerevan in autumn.
Should waste be washed?
There is no requirement. But in the hot climate of Yerevan, dirty waste creates an unpleasant smell and turns into a home for larvae and insects. Therefore, it is advisable to wash the leftover food from the waste, then hand it over for processing.
What happens if you throw your waste into the wrong container?
blue - plastic, glass
yellow - paper
black - glass
red - metal
green - other waste
Employees on site sort waste that was thrown away by mistake. Such waste goes into the green container. Waste from the green container is taken to the landfill and not recycled.
Who organizes the sorting and recycling of waste?
Waste Sorting Office of the Department of Greenery and the Environment organizes the collection of plastic, glass and cardboard waste and transfers it to recycling companies.
Where can I find available waste sorting points?
On the map YRVN — containers for 9 types of waste: from tires and metal to batteries and plastic. Also, they have a form on their website. Through it, you can submit a request to install a container in your yard, city.
How to organize separate waste collection if there is no container in the yard?
You need to call the Department of Gardening and the Environment by phone +374(11)51-47-44 or fill out form YRVN.
