Yerevan is a hilly city, and it will be difficult for a newcomer to walk if he is not used to it. Constant changes in height, steps up and down - it’s time to buy hiking boots. If adults are still able to cope with such challenges, paying the price of several heavy calluses, then children will throw a tantrum after overcoming the second pass. But what to do? Don't sit at home - kids need to be ventilated regularly. It is advisable that parents at this moment can relax control and drink a bucket of hot chocolate while their child is passionate about something.

Yerevan is not rich in spacious playgrounds and parks, but still the city has something to offer for family recreation. Instead of idle wandering by the hand along dusty and noisy mountain roads, it is better to immediately go to places of excitement and fun. Where? We'll tell you in this review.

Singing Fountains

This iconic place in the very center of Yerevan is included in all must-see lists. Seeing the singing fountains will be interesting for both adults and children - such a free show is rarely seen anywhere. In St. Petersburg Peterhof, such a spectacle can be seen only at the opening ceremony of the fountains for 5,000 drams, and in Yerevan a colorful spectacle is staged every evening from May 1 to October 31. With the onset of darkness, at 20-21:00 the music is turned on, to which a bizarre dance of light and water is performed for two hours. This mesmerizing performance leaves no one indifferent. You can sit on the curb, arm your children with ice cream and cotton candy, which are sold everywhere here, and spend a couple of unforgettable hours with your family.

Ramps, rails, parapets, steps and a bunch of other cool spots for extreme sports fans are collected in a modern skatepark near the Church of St. Gregory the Illuminator. If your child is the proud owner of rollerblades, a Bemik or a board on wheels, then feel free to come here. There is a cool atmosphere here, where it is easy to find like-minded friends, show off your memorized tricks and win the ardent hearts of your fans. There is a working toilet and a fountain with drinking water, so you can safely leave your teenager for several hours. Parents can take a seat in the spectator stand or walk to the adjacent shopping center "Russia Mall".

Across the road from the Rossiya Mall there is an intimate amusement park for the youngest residents and guests of Yerevan. Here kids can ride on safe carousels and swings, and enjoy ice cream in an open-air cafe. Theme park "Yerevan Park"

In contrast to the modest amusement park, a gigantic modern amusement park was built in Yerevan in 2019 for those who like to tickle their nerves. It is the largest in the region and is designed for all ages. Neither the green kids nor the hardened adults will be bored here.

To enter you must purchase a single ticket. In addition to the attractions, you can find a delicious food court, take part in show programs, and watch a performance with fairy-tale characters.

The park is open seven days a week, from Monday to Friday 14:00-22:00, on weekends 12:00-22:00. Cost – 12,000 drams. There are discounts in October. If your child is not an accelerator and is still below the 90 centimeter mark, then entry will be free. Yerevan Zoo

For 1,000 drams (children under three years old free) you can establish contact with wild nature by visiting Yerevan Zoo. It was one of the first to be built in the Soviet Union back in the 40s. Most recently, a complete renovation was carried out here and the enclosures were reconstructed. Today, more than 300 species of animals live on 25 hectares of picturesque territory. The place is very green and calm - both young and old will enjoy it.

The zoo is open daily from 10:00 to 20:00. The downside is that the site has not been translated into other languages, and it is not easy to find out when the shaggy “hungry from the Volga region” will be fed. But this is the most interesting thing! Let's leave here a screenshot translated into Russian from the official website of the zoo.

You can get to the place except Monday and Tuesday by free bus. It starts from the house at st. Isahakyan, 35. It’s easy to recognize transport by its bright colors. The first flight is at 11:30, the last at 18:30.

Water parks

If you find yourself in Yerevan in the summer, then you already know that the temperature in the city can reach up to 40 ℃. The right decision would be to go with the children to the local sea - Lake Sevan. But if you don’t want to travel far, then water parks can be an alternative.

It is located in the open air, covers an area of 20,000 m² and can accommodate up to 3,000 people. The creators tried to make the place as natural as possible. Mountain rivers flow throughout the park and trees are planted. There is everything for an idle pastime: slides, a swimming pool with artificial waves, a jacuzzi, foam parties and delicious food in a local restaurant. One minus is that the water park is only open in summer.

Next door there is another water park, which offers its services all year round. It is not so sweeping, but there is warm water. There are swimming pools for adults and children, a jacuzzi and, of course, slides. True, they do not work constantly, but once every two hours for 30 minutes. For a fee you can have access to a sauna and a 25-meter swimming pool. There is a subscription system and hungry little fish ready to exfoliate your heels.

Rollers

For those who miss snow and ice crust, Yerevan is ready to offer several skating rinks.

In the center of the city, near the building of the Opera and Ballet Theater, there is a small artificial reservoir called “Swan Lake” in honor of its inhabitants. In winter, when birds fly away to warmer climes, their house turns into a spiritual skating rink. There is music playing here, colorful lights are shining, there are many benches and cafes around. You can rent skates, but be prepared for long lines. The place is extremely popular.

You can skate at this sports and concert complex almost all year round - with the exception of July and August - during this time restoration work is carried out at the skating rink. Music is played here to inspire skaters.

When purchasing a ticket, you receive a numbered bracelet that is attached to your wrist. When the time spent on the ice comes to an end, the presenter announces through the microphone that the visitor with such and such a number must clear the ice. An extremely convenient solution - you ride and don’t think about time. The locker room here is small but comfortable. After sheepskin coats, axels and tops, you can refresh yourself with tea or coffee in a local cafe on the floor above.

Children's Cafe "Ponchikanets Grand Candy"

If the child flatly refuses to move, you can lure him out of the house by going to the children’s cafe “Ponchikanots Grand Candy” at the end of Mashtots Avenue. There you can buy sweets for future use or shorten the life of baby teeth right on the spot. Kind aunties serve delicious donuts and hot chocolate, and the atmosphere immerses you in the times of carefree childhood.
