Description

In 1969, Armenia celebrated the 100th anniversary of its national writer Hovhannes Tumanyan. In Yerevan they thought that, in addition to the museum, it would be great to open a park named after Tumanyan in the city. A year later, in 1970, the park was opened.

Tumanyan Park is one of the favorite parks of young people. There are three reasons for this. Firstly, it is located near the Hrazdan Gorge, and from there there is a beautiful view of the canyon, as well as the Great Hrazdan Bridge and the Sports and Concert Complex.

Secondly, the park has an extraordinary structure and a large area. And thirdly, the Tumo Center for Creative Technologies is nearby. Due to this proximity, the place is often called Tumo Park. And thanks to this, Tumanyan Park is the favorite park of teenagers, children and their parents.

50 years ago, that is, in 1973, a statue appeared in Tumanyan Park, which immediately became a symbol and decoration of the park. It is dedicated to the main characters of Tumanyan’s poem Anush and Saro. The lovers stand hugging each other. The author of the beautiful sculpture was Levon Tokmadzhyan. He is known as the author of other sculptures in Yerevan - Martiros Saryan, Leonid Yengibaryan, Karabal.

A few years ago, an atmospheric cafe appeared in Tumanyan Park. And the atmosphere is created, of course, by the local landscape. Instead of chairs, they have bean bags, which are perfect for relaxing and enjoying nature.
