The Khachkar Park is located in the Kentron administrative district of Yerevan, near the Republic Square metro station. The park was put into operation in 2014 on October 11. The Khachkar Park is fully provided with external lighting and three fountain complexes. There are 17 khachkars installed here. The khachkars are reproduced from the original khachkars of Western Armenia, Old Julfa.
The khachkar is a unique example of Armenian medieval Christian art. There are more than 30,000 khachkars in Armenia. The largest collection of khachkars in the open air is located in the cemetery of the village of Noratus. Khachkars are included in the UNESCO list of intangible cultural heritage.
