Description

The joint house-museum of the Armenian artist Hakob Kojoyan and the Armenian sculptor, founder of the Union of Artists of Yerevan (1932) and its first president Ara Sargsyan is one of the branches of the National Gallery of Armenia, which was opened in 1973.

A two-story mansion in the center of Yerevan, where two of the greatest masters of Armenian art, the sculptor Ara Sarksyan and the artist Hakob Kojoyan, lived for decades with their families and, here, in their workshops, created house museum with branch status.

The department of the branch of art of Ara Sarksyan (1902-1969) presents the works of the sculptor from the collection of the NSA and family property, photographs of works from his student years, and archival material. Here you can also get acquainted with theatrical scenery and graphic works of the sculptor.

On the second floor of the building there are works, archival documents and belongings of Hakob Kojoyan (1883 - 1959). Some of the works are from the NSA storage, the other is a gift from the artist’s heirs. The role of the master in Armenian fine arts is great; his art is multifaceted: he worked in the field of graphics, painting and decorative arts.
