The Junior Network Administrator is responsible for effectively supporting, provisioning, configuring, and maintaining multi-vendor network equipment, software, and other related infrastructure in a heterogeneous, complex environment (primarily Cisco and Palo Alto devices, as well as a GCP cloud environment). This person will participate in network troubleshooting, change management, regularly update software and hardware, implement test plans, monitor network performance, and conduct technical research and development to ensure continuous innovation in on-premise and cloud infrastructure.

The employee, among other things, will ensure the operability of the infrastructure of the Questrade network; hardware, software, network monitoring and management tools, and applications in line with corporate policies, procedures, and best practices, with particular emphasis on documentation and high availability. Other responsibilities include the ability to resolve assigned and escalated support issues for senior network administrators and cross-functional teams.

Duties and responsibilities:
Support for Questrade's hybrid WAN, consisting of data centers, LANs, campuses, WAN, WLAN, IPSec, VTI and GRE tunnels, and cloud network infrastructure.
Support and maintenance of various L2/L3 protocols and technologies, including BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, VXLAN, STP, DHCP, ACLs, PAT/NAT and others.
Create and maintain detailed documentation of assigned tasks and projects
Network management with various network monitoring and performance and configuration tools such as Solarwinds and Palo Alto Panorama. Automation of various daily network operations tasks
Participation in network performance improvement, capacity building and scaling.
Managing vendors and third party services to ensure functional performance.
Support for various network infrastructures at level 1 - 2 
Participation in building and expanding the office network through acquisitions and mergers, data center migration and disaster recovery implementation.
Participate in a rotating duty schedule that includes implementing network changes, software and firmware upgrades, maintenance/upgrades, and providing after-hours technical support.

Requirements:
Hands-on experience in network administration, configuring switches and routers, cabling and low-level troubleshooting.
Strong network troubleshooting skills
Strong documentation and presentation skills.
Committed to acquiring new skills and developing new techniques
High attention to detail, complex problem solving and troubleshooting skills.
Must be able to effectively follow procedures and policies
The ideal candidate should have at least 2 years of experience as a junior network administrator/engineer in a medium to large scale environment (up to 1000 devices) with skills in working with Cisco platforms (routers, switches, firewalls, ISE) and Palo Alto firewalls and panoramas.
Professional certifications (CCNA/CCNP, Cloud and Palo Alto) are an advantage.
Hands-on experience with any cloud provider (preferably Google).
Hands-on experience with various L2/3 routing protocols - e.g. STP, 802.1Q/X, TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, IPSEC,
Hands-on experience with Palo Alto and Cisco ASA firewalls.
Ability to work independently or with minimal supervision
Experience in disaster recovery/high availability would be an advantage.
Experience in regulated environments is an advantage (SOC, ISO27001, NIT, PCI) including escalation, change and incident management.
Experience in presenting and influencing technology strategy at the level of executives and developers.
Knowledge/experience with GCP is an advantage.
