Yuri Mokienko, a graduate from the renowned filmmaker Alexander Sokurov's workshop presents his documentary comedy "Fathers" in Armenia.

The narrative evolves around the director's father, a writer, author of a local TV-program and his older brother, a musician and theater producer. In a whimsical turn of events in summer of 2021 the trio ventures to organize a children's film festival in their village. They shoot two films for the festival: pure arthouse “Nobody”, depicting the mystical country of Russia and the romantic fairy tale “Thumbelina”. They shoot the movies on their smartphones using the shovel as a tripod, as well as inviting their children and grandchildren to play the parts. The festival initially draws locals from neighboring villages, expanding to an international one by 2023.

“Fathers” was awarded prizes at Moscow, Vyborg and Yekaterinburg film festivals, also receiving the Dziga Vertov Prize for the best documentary debut of 2023.
