1. National Library of Armenia

The National Library is impressive in size and decoration. There are 10 reading rooms, including a computer one. The library fund includes literature both in Armenian and in Russian and other foreign languages. Register readers over the age of 16, you will need a passport, registration and a 3x4 photo. The library has a book printing museum.

Opening hours: Monday - Friday from 9:00 to 21:00, Saturday from 9:00 to 20:00, Sunday from 9:00 to 17:00. More information about the operation of individual rooms link.

2. Central Library after Avetik Isahakyan

This is a library with a large fund and many branches throughout Yerevan. It organizes meetings with writers, artists, as well as concerts and theatrical performances. It is possible to use electronic resources, including Kindle. There are no age restrictions. For registration, a passport, a residence permit and a 3x4 photo are enough. Children are registered according to the birth certificate and passport of the parent.

3. Khnko Aper National Children's Library

The place with the largest collection of literature for children and teenagers from 3 to 18 years old. There are more than 500,000 library units in the fund. Visitors are assigned to the halls depending on the age or literature section. On the basis of the library there are art, theater and poetry studios, meetings with writers and book presentations are held. To register, present a passport or birth certificate, registration is required.

Opening hours: Monday – Saturday from 9:00 to 17:30.

4. Moscow cultural and business center "House of Moscow"

There is a library at the MKDC, the purpose of which is to acquaint the Armenian reader with Russian literature, including modern. Despite the name, foreign novelties can also be found here. Readers are invited to the book club. To register, you do not need a local registration, a passport is enough.

Opening hours: Monday – Friday from 9:00 to 18:00, break from 14:00 to 15:00.

5. House of the Russian Book

A library and a bookstore are combined in the Russian Book House. You can read a book while sitting in a cafe at the cultural center, but literature is not handed out. But you can buy it. As in the "House of Moscow", here you will find works by Russian writers, there is also a wide selection of world literature. Within the walls of this cultural center, meetings are held with artists and writers.

6. american corner

American Corners are opening all over the world, including several centers operating in Armenia. Here they get acquainted with American culture, help with learning English and do it, including with the help of books. For registration you will need a passport and a residence permit. Those who need to take the book home are asked for a certificate from their place of work or study.

7. Fundamental Scientific Library of NAS RA

The most suitable place for people of science. There are five reading rooms here, and one of the largest collections of literature in the Armenian language, including ancient and rare editions, is located here. Employees of the Academy of Sciences can sign up for the library and take books home. To do this, you need to present a passport, two 3x4 photographs and fill out a registration card. Researchers from other organizations will also need a letter of recommendation from their employer. Students, graduate students, as well as all visitors over the age of 16 can register in the library and study in the reading room. You will need a passport, student ID (if available), two 3x4 photos and a completed registration card.

8. Matenadaran

Matenadaran is not only a museum, a repository of manuscripts, but also a scientific complex with a library. Here you will find old printed books and periodicals published in Armenia and abroad. To register, you will need a certificate from work and a photo 3x4.

Opening hours libraries: Tuesday – Saturday from 10:00 to 17:00, reading room: Tuesday – Saturday from 10:00 to 21:00.

9. Library for Architecture

On April 20, 2023, a space for architects opened in Yerevan. It consists of a small thematic library and a model workshop and a cafe where you can discuss your ideas with like-minded people.

Opening hours: Monday – Friday from 16:00 to 20:00, Saturday from 12:00 to 16:00.

10. Photo Library Mirzoyan

It seems that Mirzoyan's library was included in all the collections of "secret" places in Yerevan. Everyone loves this place due to its unusual location and the atmosphere of an old writer's cottage. Lectures, film screenings, meetings of photographers are held here. There is a cafe in the library, and a bar in the basement. Entrance is free for everyone.

11. Keerk & Co

Order coffee and dessert, choose a book of your choice, sit at the table with your laptop and have a great day at Keerk & Co. There is a quiet and calm atmosphere in which it is comfortable to work or read for pleasure. Books are not issued at home, but you can buy them. Free admission.

12. carahunge

Dilijan and Stepanavan also have their own cafes with libraries. Both locals and tourists like to visit these cozy big houses. You can read your favorite book, enjoy traditional Armenian cuisine, and at the exit buy a souvenir from local masters. Entrance is free for everyone.

13. Lori Regional Library

The Lori Regional Library will appeal to both children and adults. There is a reading room with children's literature, they spend holidays with animators, the smallest ones are introduced to the work of the library. Adults will appreciate a large selection of printed (including rare) and e-books. To register, you will need a passport and registration.

14. Shirak Regional Library

The library is already valuable even for its location. It is located in a building of the 19th century, and tourists are often brought here to look at the wooden balcony from the film “Tango of Our Childhood”. The library has an extensive collection of books (more than 200,000 items) in Armenian, Russian and other languages, which allows it to be considered the largest in the region. You can register in the library with a passport and if you have a residence permit.

15. Central Library named after Mkrtich Armen

The library is located in the building of the Administration of the city of Gyumri and is adjacent to the Historical Museum and the Gyumri Community Exhibition Hall. So, a trip to the library can be combined with a visit to several cultural places at once. The library is not as big as the regional one, but it also pleases with a selection of books. For registration you will need a passport and a residence permit.
